Exciting developments are underway at the historic Methodist Chapel site in Lambourn. The Grade II listed chapel, acquired by the Lambourn Almshouses in 2017, is being transformed to provide much-needed homes for the community. Inside the chapel, significant progress has been made: new floors and walls have been constructed, and elegant arched windows have been installed, breathing new life into the historic structure.

Adjacent to the chapel, the project is advancing with the construction of five new apartments. Over the past few days, careful excavation work has been carried out under the watchful eye of an archaeologist, ensuring that any historical artefacts are preserved. Today marks a pivotal moment as concrete is being poured into the trenches, laying the robust foundations for the new building. Looking ahead, block work is scheduled to commence on Monday, signalling the start of the buildings rising from the ground.

The development will offer a total of nine new homes—four within the restored chapel and five in the newly constructed building—providing essential housing for those in need in Lambourn.

A big thanks goes to Heritage Construction who are really moving the work forward at a pace.
