The Lambourn Almshouses Charity is delighted to announce that work on the nine new almshouses is now nearing completion. Subject to the final certificates being issued, we expect the first residents to move into their new homes within the next ten days, marking the successful completion of a remarkable community project.
We are also pleased to announce that one of Lambourn’s previously unnamed lanes has now been officially named New Almshouses. The lane, leading from Oxford Street to the new development, provides access to the former Methodist Chapel, which has been sensitively converted into four attractive apartments, together with five newly built almshouses designed to complement the historic chapel and its surroundings.
We will shortly be announcing an Open Day, giving local residents the opportunity to visit the development, see the high quality workmanship and celebrate this important addition to the village.
This project would not have been possible without the generosity of our donors, grant making trusts, sponsors and supporters. Their kindness has enabled the creation of nine much needed almshouse homes that will serve the people of Lambourn for generations to come. We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has helped make this vision a reality.
