Work on the Methodist chapel site is progressing well despite the challenging weather conditions. The timber-framed end wall has been removed, successfully separating the two buildings in preparation for the construction of a new brick and concrete block wall. Throughout the process, all salvageable bricks have been carefully preserved for reuse in restoring the external walls, where some of the existing bricks are in poor condition. A section we had believed to be brick was revealed to be constructed from chalk blocks, adding an unexpected but charming feature to the new building.

The roof timbers have been exposed following the removal of all the tiles, and extensive repairs have been undertaken where the timbers were found to be rotten. The main load-bearing timbers have been restored using English oak, ensuring durability for generations to come. Inside, the team has begun cutting out new windows, starting with the areas where the existing windows will be enlarged.

Overall, progress is really going well, but there is still much to accomplish before the weather worsens.
