The Lambourn Almshouses opened their doors to the public on Friday, offering visitors a rare glimpse into the historic homes situated beside the church. The event provided an opportunity to explore the almshouses and learn more about their role in providing accommodation for those in need.

A highlight of the day was the chance to view one of the newly refurbished homes, which impressed visitors with its cosy and welcoming atmosphere. The living room, which overlooks the sunny courtyard, was particularly well-received, with many commenting on the peaceful and inviting setting.
The Lambourn Almshouses have long been a vital part of the village community, offering secure housing to those facing difficult circumstances. The development project at the nearby Methodist church sitewill expand this provision further, with nine additional homes expected to be available from early 2026.

A huge thank you goes to Sharon and Mary, whose hard work and organisation ensured the day ran smoothly. Their efforts were key to making the event such a success.
For those who missed the open day, there will be more opportunities to visit the almshouses in the coming months. Keep an eye out for announcements about future open days.
