There’s real excitement around the Methodist chapel site in Lambourn, where the Almshouse development is progressing at a tremendous pace. What was once a cherished place of worship is now well on its way to becoming a new chapter in the village’s history and a vital one at that.

The chapel itself has already been beautifully transformed into four new homes, with electricians now busily fixing in the wires and plumbers getting the pipes in place. The beautiful new windows have been constructed and installed by the team at Heritage Construction in the style of the original windows. The energy on site is palpable, and with the pace the team is working at, things are definitely on track.

Just next door, where the old school rooms once stood, the new building is taking impressive shape too. The blockwork is now up to eaves level, and all the floors are in place. Our hardworking bricklayers are making the most of the fine weather, and it’s fair to say the sunshine is helping everything move along at top speed.

This milestone project which will deliver nine much-needed almshouse homes by early 2026 simply wouldn’t be happening without the extraordinary support of charitable organisations, grant-making trusts and generous private donors.

To each and every one of you: thank you. Your support is quite literally laying the foundations for something special in Lambourn.
