The Lambourn Almshouses recently welcomed Carolyn Sims for a site visit as work nears completion on the conversion of the former Methodist Chapel and adjoining site into nine new almshouse homes.

The project has been made possible through many generous donors and a substantial loan from Charity Bank, whose long standing support has enabled the trustees to take the scheme through to its final stages. Practical completion is expected in late February and the trustees are very much looking forward to welcoming nine new residents to Lambourn.

Carolyn Sims is Director of Impact Lending at Charity Bank and has many years of experience in funding charities, social housing and community focused projects across the United Kingdom. She plays a key role in working with organisations to help them deliver long term social benefit, with a particular focus on housing and projects that support people on limited incomes.

During her visit, Carolyn toured the new homes and said she was very impressed with the project overall. She praised the quality of the workmanship and the thoughtful design of the new buildings, which have been carefully developed to provide comfortable, high quality homes while respecting the character of the site.

Carolyn also had the opportunity to meet some of the existing residents, giving her a first hand insight into what life is like at the Lambourn Almshouses and the strong sense of community that exists among those who live there.

Christian Noll, Chair of the Trustees of the Lambourn Almshouses, hosted Carolyn during her visit and thanked her for the tremendous flexibility shown by Charity Bank throughout the project. He noted that this flexibility was instrumental in enabling the scheme to progress smoothly and ultimately in ensuring the completion of the nine new homes.

The trustees are proud of the progress that has been made and are delighted that the project is now approaching completion, delivering much needed homes for people in the local community.
